Biography
La Pandilla is an Ecuadorian band that was formed on July 2, 1983, in the traditional Quito neighborhood of La Recoleta. The original members were Pablo Noboa, Miguel Castillo, Dimitri Unda, Marcelo Vallejo, and Marco Martínez. That same year, they released their first album, “Tierra Mojada”, followed shortly by “En Libertad”.
In 1985, they released the album “Como cambia la vida”, which included songs such as “Estoy llorando”, “Una historia importante”, “Mi canto extranjero”, “Préstame un minuto”, and “Que se enteren”, among others. These songs quickly became hits, not only in Ecuador but also in several South American countries.
In 1990, Pablo Noboa left the band to pursue a solo career, which led to the group’s breakup shortly thereafter, despite some attempts to continue with new members.
In 2002, the original members reunited to release a compilation CD, toured Ecuador and the United States, and released a new album titled La Pandilla: El Retorno.
La Pandilla is remembered as one of the most important youth bands in Ecuador during the 1980s, leaving a legacy of romantic hits that still resonate in the public’s memory.
